Team Lead IV&V – Autonomous Transport Systems

Lead the Integration, Verification and Validation of autonomous transport systems, managing the IV&V team and the complete safety-critical test regime across international projects.

The 2getthere team at the Utrecht office

Description

Within 2getthere, we deliver Autonomous Transport Systems (ATS) based on fleets of electrified, self-driving shuttles and pods. We are the first in market to have delivered fully operational and certified SAE Level 4 (L4) autonomous transport systems without safety stewards onboard — bringing the future to life, today. Due to our growth and an increasing number of projects, we are looking for a Team Lead IV&V at our location in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

As Team Lead IV&V you lead the Integration, Verification and Validation of our systems — proving, with evidence, that each ATS is fit for purpose and can be operated safely. You run the IV&V team day to day and own the full test regime: from reviewing requirements and design, through drafting and executing test plans, to on-site commissioning, duration trials and validation. Because the scope is broad and safety-critical, you work closely with System and Safety Engineering, Product Development and Project Management; collaboration, communication and expectation management are essential to succeed in this role.

About the role and our ambition

  • 2getthere is strategically positioned to develop autonomous driving technology and autonomous transport systems “as a service”. We are the first in market to have delivered fully operational and certified L4 autonomous transport systems without safety stewards onboard. In this role you will be part of 2getthere’s project and program management team.

  • Our mission and vision is to be a full ATS provider, delivering increased value to Public Transport Operators through improved safety, accessibility and availability in a multi-modal mobility landscape, configured to order based on 2getthere’s proven technology stack.

  • The project and program management team exists to execute, manage and deliver projects in line with these strategic objectives, by optimising cost-effectiveness and flexibility while minimising project risk, complexity and overhead. Our current flagship delivery is the BKC Mumbai automated PRT system in India, where the IV&V team drives the staged acceptance campaign — component, sub-system, integrated and site acceptance testing (cFAT, sFAT, iFAT, SAT) — toward ASCE 21-21 certification and on-site commissioning. You will lead that regime across BKC Mumbai and our other international projects.

  • You will report to the Head of Projects, who is responsible for the overall project and program management within 2getthere.

Job Duties

  • Own the complete IV&V test regime and test strategy for every ATS delivery — define the overall test strategy, plan and manage the test regime incl. review requirements and design documentation, draft and mature the IV&V Plans and the Integration Test & Acceptance Plan (ITAP) and manage the drafting of test plans and test cases.

  • Plan and manage test execution across the lifecycle — component, sub-system, integrated and site acceptance testing (cFAT, sFAT, iFAT, SAT) — including regression testing of software and hardware releases.

  • Lead the IV&V team day to day: workload and resource planning, coaching and performance development, recruitment and training, and growing team members into independent professionals.

  • Review and own Test Readiness Safety Cases, follow up safety-related issues, and drive HSE for the systems under test and all on-site activities.

  • Define requirements and support the set-up of a local IV&V team footprint to enable efficient project execution.

  • Manage on-site installation and commissioning, overall system finetuning, duration trials, the ATS validation programme, and the handover from IV&V to Operations & Maintenance.

  • On BKC Mumbai, lead the IV&V interface toward the Independent Engineer’s Completion / Provisional Certificate and ASCE 21-21 acceptance.

  • Mature and standardise IV&V processes, procedures, plans and documentation, and align them with System Engineering, Product Development and ATS Service & Support.

  • Manage configuration and issue handling with root-cause follow-up, test-equipment stock and purchasing, and the calibration and periodic certification of test equipment.

  • Coordinate third parties and external facilities — test track, EMC and climate-chamber testing, transport, subsystem suppliers, chargers, ICT and CCTV.

  • Report progress, plans, budgets and status to the management team and steering committee, and contribute to retrospectives, lessons learned and continuous improvement.

Your skills and expertise

Must-have

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline — automotive, mechanical, electrical or control-systems engineering, computer science, mechatronics, industrial automation or similar.

  • Several years’ experience in integration, verification and validation or test engineering within a complex, multi-disciplinary technical environment, including leading a team or test campaigns.

  • Hands-on testing experience, preferably to ISO 26262 (Road Vehicles – Functional Safety) and ISO/PAS 21448 (SOTIF).

  • Strong test-management discipline: planning, execution, evidence and reporting in line with defined processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (mandatory).

  • Willingness to travel internationally for on-site test and commissioning campaigns, sometimes in extended blocks.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with ADAS / automated-driving systems.

  • Experience in rail, transit, signalling or Automated People Mover (APM) acceptance (e.g. ASCE 21-21).

  • Linux (Ubuntu), and scripting in Python and Bash.

  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.

  • Experience with civil and infrastructure interfaces and on-site commissioning abroad.

  • Dutch language skills.

Your characteristics

  • You take ownership: when something is unclear or stuck, you are the one who moves it.

  • Proactive, self-starting and stress-resistant, able to work independently and keep the overview under pressure.

  • Accurate and disciplined in test execution, documentation and reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills and a hands-on, multi-disciplinary mentality.

  • A team player and strong communicator, customer- and safety-focused.

  • Willing to travel internationally, including extended on-site stints.

Certifications (advantageous)

  • VCA Basis or VCA Vol.

  • NEN-1010 / NEN-3140 and NEN-9140.

  • Awareness of Arbobesluit articles 3.16 / 7.23 (working at height).

  • BHV (emergency response) or equivalent.

  • ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ISO/PAS 21448 (SOTIF).
